Cosmas MwikirizeSpeaker

Dr. Cosmas Mwikirize is a Biomedical Engineer and Fulbright Scholar with a Ph.D. from Rutgers University, where his research focused on machine learning for surgical tool tracking in ultrasound-guided procedures. He completed an industrial residency at Philips Research North America in the Ultrasound Imaging and Interventions group.

With cross-cultural academic and research experience at institutions including Makerere University, MIT, and Philips, Dr. Mwikirize is passionate about biomedical imaging, instrumentation, and sustainable energy technologies. He serves on several boards driving renewable energy innovation in Africa and is an active mentor, notably with BigIdeas@Berkeley. In 2020, he was recognized among Uganda’s Top 40 Under 40.
