Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero is a distinguished Ugandan scientist and epidemiologist currently serving as Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation in the Office of the President. With a career spanning over 25 years, she has been at the forefront of public health and epidemic response in Africa, leading efforts during major outbreaks including Ebola and COVID-19.
She holds degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Public Health from Makerere University and a Master’s in Microbiology and Immunology from Cornell University. Before joining cabinet, Dr. Musenero held senior roles in Uganda’s Ministry of Health, the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), and the World Health Organization (WHO), where she served as Field Coordinator during the West Africa Ebola epidemic.
A champion of home-grown innovation, Dr. Musenero now leads Uganda’s drive to harness science and technology for national development, with a focus on health technologies, industrial research, and scientific preparedness for future epidemics.
