Major James Mutabaazi is a highly experienced tax professional and currently serves as Director of the Tax Department at Forvis Mazars Uganda. With over 15 years of expertise, he specialises in income tax compliance, transfer pricing, and due diligence, advising a diverse portfolio of over 100 clients annually on both domestic and international tax matters.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Makerere University Business School and a Postgraduate Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration, equipping him with strong technical and strategic knowledge in taxation.

Major James has successfully led teams in developing and implementing tax compliance frameworks, reviewing complex transactions, and preparing well-supported tax opinions that provide defensible positions before regulators. His key areas of focus include income tax compliance under Uganda’s Income Tax Act, cross-border taxation aligned with OECD standards, tax risk management for corporate and donor-funded projects, and advising on tax policy and governance reforms.

Known for his meticulous approach and leadership, Major James prioritises quality assurance, clear reporting, and building capacity within both his teams and client organisations. He maintains strong working relationships with the Uganda Revenue Authority and development agencies, helping organisations achieve compliant, transparent, and sustainable financial practices.
