Multi-Chamber Business Preparedness Breakfast: Supporting Business Continuity Ahead of Elections

Business leaders gathered for a joint chamber breakfast on continuity planning and preparedness.

On 6 November 2025, the French Chamber of Commerce Uganda (FCCU), in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce Uganda (AmCham Uganda), the British Chamber of Commerce Uganda, and the Netherlands Uganda Trade and Investment Platform (NUTIP), hosted a Multi-Chamber Business Preparedness Breakfast focused on supporting businesses ahead of the upcoming election period.

The session brought together members from multiple business communities for a practical, non-political discussion on how companies can safeguard operations, staff, and continuity before, during, and after elections.

The breakfast centred on actionable guidance rather than speculation. Discussions highlighted the importance of business continuity planning, staff safety protocols, internal communication systems, and operational readiness. Speakers noted that while election periods may affect public-sector timelines, most private-sector activities remain stable for businesses that plan ahead.

Risk management and insurance considerations were also addressed, with participants encouraged to review Political Violence and Terrorism cover and Business Interruption extensions to ensure clarity on coverage and exclusions.

The session featured insights from Rajesh Kumar of the India Business Forum, Stuart Elliot of Willis Towers Watson, Sanjay Rughani of Standard Chartered Bank, Paul Mwirigi Muriungi an Advertising and Strategy Consultant, and Julius Mucunguzi from the Electoral Commission’s communications team. The discussion was moderated by Pheona Wall, ensuring a balanced and focused exchange.

The Electoral Commission emphasised the importance of calm, factual communication and encouraged the private sector to play a constructive role in maintaining confidence during the election period.

The event was supported by partners including Africa Global Logistics, Standard Chartered, All Terrain Services, Rainbow International School, and Blue Bell Legal Advocates, reflecting strong cross-chamber and cross-sector collaboration.

FCCU encourages members to review and test business continuity plans, strengthen communication systems, review insurance coverage, and engage constructively with public institutions as part of broader preparedness efforts.

The Multi-Chamber Business Preparedness Breakfast reaffirmed the value of collaboration, preparedness, and responsible communication, and FCCU remains committed to supporting its members through timely, practical engagements.
